Practice Areas
What we do
Five areas where the firm's regulatory experience and transatlantic network matter most.
Sustainability and Climate
Clients hire us on energy, climate change, sustainable fuels, EPA regulation, and market-based solutions. We build coalitions that produce more effective engagement with policymakers, civil society, and environmental NGOs.
The network we draw on dates to John Schmitz's work formulating the U.S. Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 as Deputy White House Counsel. Three decades on, it remains the foundation of how the firm gets workable policy enacted.
Chemicals and Consumer Products
Manufacturers and trade associations come to us for advice on chemicals and consumer-product regulation in the U.S. and Europe. Working alongside moderate environmental NGOs and scientific experts, we help clients build coalitions that advocate for workable rules on environment, health, and consumer protection.
Notable clients
BASF, DuPont, American Farm Bureau Federation, Monsanto
Pharmaceuticals and Health Policy
We advise innovative research-based pharmaceutical companies on U.S., EU, and German regulation. Working with leading health and innovation experts on both sides of the Atlantic, we help shape domestic and international policy and encourage transatlantic cooperation on health.
The firm has supported confidential transatlantic scientific collaborations on pandemic response.

Aviation
We advise airlines and aerospace manufacturers on international environmental issues — climate change, ICAO regulation, sustainable jet fuels — alongside complex domestic matters from Open Skies negotiations to DOT regulation.
We represented a major airline in the negotiations for the first U.S.-German Open Skies Agreement. In recent years we have advised on the design and rollout of CORSIA, the first industry-wide global climate measure.

Transatlantic Relations and Stakeholder Engagement
Clients hire us to assemble third-party allies and stakeholder coalitions that shape the outcome of government investigations and international policy debates.
