By Prime Transatlantic
Washington, D.C., May 1, 2021 — Prime Transatlantic LLC, a policy advocacy and consulting firm with offices in Washington, D.C. and Berlin, today announced that Prof. Robert Hahn has joined the firm as Senior Advisor, expanding its regulatory, sustainability, energy, and transportation practices.
"Bob's record in academia and at the senior levels of government strengthens our work for clients on both sides of the Atlantic," said John Schmitz, President of Prime Transatlantic. "Bob was an influential part of the White House team that designed the acid rain emissions trading program — the first of its kind nationwide — as part of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. His impact extended to our deregulatory initiatives, smart regulation, and the use of best scientific practices and data."
Prof. Hahn and John Schmitz served together in the White House of President George H.W. Bush during the period Harvard Professor Robert Stavins later called the "Golden Age of Bipartisan Environmental Policy Making."
After leaving the White House, Prof. Hahn established the AEI-Brookings Joint Center for Regulatory Studies, which he led for over a decade. He has served on the faculties of Harvard and Carnegie Mellon, and continues his research with the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at Oxford University, focused on carbon market design, low-income energy subsidies, the benefits of ride-sharing, and the impact of regulation on economic growth.
"I am excited to join Prime Transatlantic at a moment when energy, transport, and climate policy is being rewritten on both sides of the Atlantic," said Prof. Hahn. "My background in regulatory and behavioral economics complements Prime Transatlantic's legal and policy focus."
